"LONG BEFORE YOUR HIGHWAYS, YOUR PLANES, TRAINS AND CARS, I CARRIED YOU FOR MILES, AND I GAVE YOU MY ALL. AND TOGETHER WE CREATED AN EMPIRE TO SHARE, SO NOW I NEED YOU TO REMEMBER I WAS THERE." - Wild Lands Wild Horses
When I first listened to the "Wild Lands Wild Horses" theme song, the lyrics immediately hit me. Tears streamed down my face thinking about all the four legged unknown soldiers that died carrying Americans to glory - in war, sport, agriculture, and industry - and how impossible it would have been for this country to be built without their contribution.
From the time I originally captured "Unknown Soldier" all the way through post-production processing, I could envision how the final image would look and what it represents - our "other" unknown soldiers who ask for no glory, and the debt of gratitude we owe them.
"RUN WITH ME... I DESERVE TO ROAM THE PLACE WHERE I WAS BORN."
I invite you to watch the documentary "Wild Lands Wild Horses" created by my dear friend and wild horse advocate, Jamie Baldanza with Deb Lee Carson. This film transports us through America’s western landscape, sharing the complex issues around the use of our public lands, and bringing national awareness to the majestic yet politically complicated lives of America’s wild horses.
