Wild Horses At The Base Of The Mountain

It's a New Year!

As we enter 2026, I wanted to share a recent experience that brought my life into sharp focus: a challenging, but incredibly rewarding, hike to the base of Mount Siegel in Nevada, where most of the Fish Springs wild horses choose to spend the cold season.

During the cold seasons, the Fish Springs mustangs have been roaming at the base of Mount Siegel in Nevada. The area is still burned from previous wild fires but the horses seem to find enough food and water on the land. Look close and you'll see them....

Transformation naturally happens when you step away from the noise of daily life and move toward a towering, silent giant. Standing at these heights, the world below fades and the silence of the place gradually opens up a vital space in your mind.

With the immense peak looming above, thoughts naturally turned inward, causing me to reflect on some of the moments that made up the past year. All the small victories, the unexpected challenges, and the quiet joys played out again without distraction. The raw beauty of the landscape and the immense perspective sharpened my senses and brought life into stunning clarity.

In that vastness, you can't help but realize how small you are in this immense, intricate world. One would think it’s diminishing but the experience was actually pretty grounding. It stripped away trivial concerns and highlighted what truly matters: our connections with the people in our lives, the moments we share, the support we give, and the laughter that rings true - these are the most precious peaks of all.

More than anything, climbing to the mountain taught me about presence. When you are on the trail, by car or by foot, every step counts and you have to be in the “here and now.”

This trip to the base of the mountain reinforced the commitment to live life intentionally, making every day a deliberate, thankful step forward.

Throughout 2025 we took several of these steps that a simple “thank you” doesn’t seem enough to express my gratitude for each one of you who helped make it happen.

You’re part of our journey and we’re so very grateful for that.

Tim and I would like to wish you and your families a quiet, reflective and prosperous 2026.

May you find your own "base of the mountain", where you can reflect, breathe deeply, and prepare for the journey ahead.
