It started with a trip to the Pine Nut mountains, NV. There Maria first laid eyes on a wild horse - a mustang stallion named "Zorro". Being in the presence of such a majestic creature felt overwhelming, yet peaceful. At that moment her life took a turn. She was now joining the voices already fighting for their freedom.
"Mustangs have very strong and complex bonds with interesting relationships. Their courage, resilience and strength are demonstrated in their quest for survival daily on the desert plains", says Maria. Always faithful and true to her artistic vision of capturing the essence of the wild horses in a very intimate and personal style, she enables you to closely feel their spirit.
All the artist's images are captured in their own environment and on their own terms. Because most people will never have a chance to see these majestic creatures in their lifetimes, it's Maria's desire that, through her photographs, you'll have the opportunity see the beauty and spirit of the wild horse and feel compelled to join her in the quest of preserving their safety and freedom.
