“The wild winds called her to her soul and through the ground she felt the thundering hooves of freedom.” - Shikoba

The magnificent beauty and power of wild horses is not lost on any American. A fascination with horses, wild and domestic, has translated into centuries of uniquely American literature, movies, and media focused on the horse in American culture. Interestingly, a 2020 study found that there are equine enthusiasts in over a quarter of all American households today!

For those that ride, a passion for horses goes beyond mere admiration. It's a deep connection that stems from appreciating the beauty, strength, and grace of these magnificent creatures. And seeing them in the wild, untamed and free, stirs deep emotions for what they represent: a passion for freedom.

What a horse represents, the passion, the power, the mystique, the freedom - this is what I strive to portray in my wild horse fine art.

Wild Horse Photography As A Window To The Past

A wild horse photo, with its remarkable ability to transport us to a bygone era, serves as a captivating window into the rich tapestry of the American past. Images of untamed stallions galloping across vast landscapes transport us to a time when the spirit of the Wild West coursed through the veins of our great nation.

These images speak volumes about the heritage, the resilience, and the untold stories of our land. They capture the essence of a time when wild horses roamed freely, symbolizing the unyielding spirit of freedom and independence that shaped the American identity. Through wild horse art, we are able to peer into the chapters of history that unfolded on these Western lands, connecting us with the pioneers, explorers, and indigenous cultures that coexisted with the mustang.

Through photographic art, the beauty and significance of the American past are preserved, allowing us to honor and celebrate the timeless allure of wild horses and their role in shaping the narrative of our nation.

Embracing Freedom

One of the main reasons equine enthusiasts are drawn to my photography is because wild horses, with their untamed beauty and indomitable spirit, symbolize the essence of freedom. Freely traversing open plains and navigating rugged terrain, they embody the unbridled pursuit of liberty and autonomy.

These descendants of the feral horses that once roamed the American West, serve as a powerful reminder of the wild and untamed spirit that resides within us all. Their unyielding resilience and ability to thrive in harsh environments echo the human desire to break free from constraints, to explore uncharted territories, and to embrace the limitless possibilities that come with liberation.

Advocating and Support

Those that have followed me for a while know that my photography also doubles as a tool of advocacy for the mustangs. America's wild horses have been at risk of endangerment on multiple occasions in history, thus the reason advocates ramped up their efforts for the preservation of wild horses. Investing in my wild horse fine art is a simple, yet effective, way to advocate for protecting America's wild horses, as a portion of all sales’ profits is donated to non-profit organizations who work hard to protect these creatures.
