“Wherever man has left his footprints in the long ascent from barbarism to civilization, we find the hoof print of a horse beside it.” -Anonymous

In the vast tapestry of history, few creatures have left an indelible mark quite like wild horses. With their untamed grace and fierce spirit, these majestic beings have woven themselves into the very fabric of human civilization.

As a photographer and equestrian, deeply passionate about both art and horses, my journey has led me to explore wild horses and their timeless connection to humanity.

A Glimpse into the Past

The history of wild horses in America is a tale that spans millennia, an intriguing journey of thriving, extinction, and rebirth. With their unyielding strength and resilience, these hardy creatures have been companions to our ancestors, serving as partners in labor, transportation, and even warfare. And, as the West was settled and this country built, horses were not merely beasts of burden but became symbols of power, freedom, and untamed beauty.

Across generations and continents, horses have been integral to our survival and growth as a species and an important part of many great civilizations. As I reflect on their role in shaping history, I'm reminded of my own journey. And I think that most Americans see in the wild horse facets of the American spirit: the longing for freedom, a rugged determination, and a resilience to rise again and again in the face of hardship.

The Wild Horse's Role in Culture

From the sweeping plains of the American West to the windswept steppes of Mongolia, wild horses have captured the imagination of cultures across the globe. In Native American folklore, they are revered as messengers of freedom and symbols of nobility and resilience. In the annals of ancient civilizations, their grace and strength were immortalized in art and literature, embodying ideals of nobility and resilience. Even today, the wild horse inspires artists, writers, and dreamers worldwide.

Through my lens, I've had the privilege of capturing the horse's place in our own culture and abroad. Their essence transcends boundaries, embodying freedom and strength in the hearts of those who encounter them.

In the United States, the wild horse has become an important part of the American identity and heritage. As an artist, I've strived to channel this essence into my work, helping viewers to connect with the spirit of these incredible animals.

Survival Partners: Wild Horses and Humans

In the quest to survive, wild horses and humans forged an unbreakable bond. These creatures, with their keen instincts and endurance, were vital allies in the pursuit of sustenance.

In ancient times and recent history, they helped humans traverse vast landscapes in search of food and shelter. They carried us over battlefields and plowed fields alike. Their sweat and toil mingled with ours, creating a legacy of partnership that resonates through the ages. This shared journey through time highlights the intertwined fate of our two species.

Capturing the Spirit: Wild Horse Artistry

As I embarked on my photography journey, my lens became a bridge between the untamed world of wild horses and reality of the human realm. Through intimate and minimalistic compositions, I aim to portray the emotions these creatures stir within us and their importance in the narrative of our country.

Art has a voice. My works also encompass advocating for a cause I deeply believe in. In my pursuit of helping to preserve the wild mustangs' freedom, I dedicate a portion of every sale to non-profit organizations committed to their protection and safety.

My passion and commitment to this cause have allowed me the opportunity to collaborate with noted journalists and publications, shining a spotlight on the urgent issues wild horses face. This symbiotic relationship between my art and the important cause of the American wild horses amplifies the message, reaching those who can drive positive change.

The Enduring Legacy

The echoes of history are never truly silent, and the legacy of wild horses continues to resonate in the modern world. As we navigate the complexities of the present, we're reminded of the profound impact of these creatures upon us and the lands they've roamed for centuries. Their untamed, resilient spirits resonate in the hearts of those who recognize their significance and continue to champion their cause.
