More Than Wild Horse Photography

"LISTEN TO THE SILENCE. IT HAS SO MUCH TO SAY." - Rumi

A TRIP WORTH MORE THAN WILD HORSE PHOTOGRAPHY

It's been many days of muddy dirt roads, gorgeous badlands, unpredictable weather and lots of wild horses. I'm now back home from the beautiful Wyoming landscape and, once again, with a full heart.

On the evening before we left Cody, we sat at a local restaurant to enjoy happy hour and celebrate such an amazing time "roaming" in the desert ourselves. A heart felt conversation with my husband led me to discover what really keeps pulling me back so strongly to the desert...beyond the horses.

A lone horse standing by a water hole in the desert. His reflection showing in the water
After dozens of horses drank out of this water hole, this lone wild horse had his turn. The reason why he was not with other bachelors or closer to the herd I'm not certain, but I'm sure he had his reasons.

Mustangs have showed us a new world. They are the key that opened the door to this crazy 2.0 life of mine and have changed us in many levels. The wild horses will always be in the forefront and a major part of my life.

But what I discovered with my wild horse photography and this time while roaming amongst them is that, at the core, the reason I crave going back to the wild is because I am closer to how my Creator intended me to be - free of worry, peaceful, content and deeply connected with His creation. The solitude in the wild open spaces and the "sound of silence" allow me to slow down and empty my mind. It evokes prayer and gratefulness.

It feels perfect. It feels right. It feels the way it should be.
