A 10 Year Milestone With Wild Horses
A decade ago, I stepped into the desert with a camera and a simple desire to capture the raw spirit of wild horses, completely unaware how deeply these horses would rewrite the trajectory of my life.
What began as an initial study evolved into a ten-year journey of immersion - spending countless hours surrounded by dust and sagebrush observing herd dynamics, learning the subtle language of stallions, mares, and foals, and translating those moments into photographic artwork.
Learning the rhythm of their lives has been one of the most profound privileges of my life, teaching me what it truly means to be present, deepening both my creative practice and my commitment to their preservation.

This is "Gandalf", the oldest recorded wild stallion of the Onaqui mountain range of the Great Basin Desert, UT.
"The Old Man of Onaqui", as many call him, is estimated to have lived close to 30 years before passing.
He is legendary, a poster child for all American wild horses and remembered by both who had the privilege to watch him in person and many who closely followed his journey on the US public lands.
