I am beyond thrilled to share a milestone that feels both surreal and incredibly humbling.
Just about two years ago I was approached by film producer Amy Maki of OSFilms about creating a documentary centered on my life, my work, and the journey that led me to the American wild horses.
To have the opportunity to tell the story of how a single encounter evolved into a lifelong calling—is a gift I never expected.

"At its surface, it is a beautifully crafted nature documentary, inviting audiences of all ages to witness the lives of wild horses in their untouched habitat through Maria Marriott's wild horse photography.
For those seeking more, it becomes a moving testament to the power of discovering one’s calling and dedicating oneself to a life of purpose. On a deeper emotional plane, it reveals the profound, almost mystical bond that can arise between humans and animals.
Ultimately, the film reaches its most resonant truth: in the unbroken wildness of these mythical beings—and in the moments when that freedom is threatened—we recognize reflections of our own lives, our longing for meaning, and our shared fragility". - House of Film.
Looking back, it feels as though I have been preparing for this story my entire life. My love for horses began in my earliest memories, a deep passion that only grew as I did. Merging the art of photography with that lifelong love has been one of the most rewarding journeys of my life; it is the place where my heart and my craft finally became one.
My hope for this documentary is that it will allow others to see the American wild horses through a different lens, moving beyond their beauty and grace to reveal their profound character and spirit - a spirit that mirrors our own, reminding us all of the strength and resilience we carry within ourselves and serving as a bridge that connects us to the untamed world we are so lucky to share.
Maria
