I was recently invited to be a contributor to an article for the UCLA Daily Bruin newspaper about the current plight of the mustangs. Needless to say I was both honored and excited with the opportunity of sharing my thoughts on how important it is to keep the American wild horses safe and free, as well as why they are so linked to the American spirit.
“How they persist despite unendurable odds, and how they are completely free,
it isn’t difficult to see them as representatives of freedom
and the best of the American spirit.”
- Maria Marriott
While preparing for the interview, my journey photographing the wild horses came to mind, from my first visit to the Pine Nut mountain range to present - using my wild horse art to bring their world to the public while promoting awareness of their cause.
MORE THAN DECORATION - ART HAS A VOICE
I have found that art is the best way to transcend barriers of culture and background to connect deeply with people. Think music! It stirs emotions, challenges perceptions and ignites important conversations. It’s a universal language to make a statement and open minds.

Thus my love for photography - whether displayed in galleries, city streets, or digital spaces, photographic art invites people to engage with the world in a meaningful way. An image can make certain issues become personal, encouraging empathy and action.
I’m happy to share the Daily Bruin article with you and be a voice for wild ones.
